Cloud computing has become a necessary component in  the path to modernisation for most companies. In the past, performing the calculations and running informatics services had to be hosted in local datacenters, on the premises of each company, with resulting high capital and operational expenditure, and relatively low reliability due to the existence of a single point of failure.
Cloud computing allows these operations to be delegated to a third party which is both highly specialised in this type of services, can provide higher reliability with multiple datacenters, and can allow on-demand usage for their clients (only the resources needed are paid for).
In this course we will see an overview of the Cloud computing landscape.
