Welcome to course Scientific Tools for Embedded AI (STEAI). This course is designed to be a harmonization course, and aims to establish a common technical baseline across software modeling, numerical design, and hardware description.

It bridges the gap between high-level algorithm design and low-level hardware implementation, preparing students with the essential core tools required for advanced study in embedded AI and hardware acceleration.

Learning Outcomes: At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Bridge software-level algorithms with low-level hardware implementation requirements.

  2. Convert theoretical models into fixed-point representations and quantify accuracy trade-offs.

  3. Write clean, synthesizable VHDL for basic digital components and domain-specific accelerators.

  4. Run automated testbenches and verify hardware correctness against software baselines.
